October 11, 2018 - K-Care Invited To Washington, D.C. To Work With The Blue Button 2.0 Developer Conference

K-Care Empowered Health Care, Inc. Invited To Washington, D.C. To Work With The Blue Button 2.0 Developer Conference

The invitation to participate in the government-sponsored project and meet with ONC and CMS directors put K-Care in position to advance their work for patient-driven change in medical information sharing technology.

PHOENIX, AZ, October 11, 2018 – K-Care Empowered Health Care, Inc. met with directors of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and was honored to attend the Blue Button 2.0 Developer Conference on August 13, 2018 at the invitation of the White House Office of American Innovation.

“What an exciting opportunity to share our story and our vision on how to improve the system for sharing medical information,” said Bob Hodge II, Founder of K-Care. “This project is all about sharing, from the medical industry’s point of view. We were able to inject how important real time, comprehensive information sharing is from the patient’s point of view. It’s essential to support the patient, and we are energized to move ahead with our platform.”

The Blue Button 2.0 Project, headed by the CMS, seeks to use Medicare claim information to enable developers to build software that improves outcomes for patients. While the project primarily focuses on Medicare claims and is working to address information sharing from the medical industry and payor points of view, K-Care’s platform focuses on the patient’s point of view. The K-Care platform puts medical records sharing in the hands of the individual, restoring a sense of control in an otherwise out-of-control experience and improving the outcome for patients with life-threatening, critical, or complex illnesses.

October 8, 2018 - K-Care Announces 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Status

K-Care Empowered Health Care, Inc. Announces 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Status To Benefit Mission Of Empowering Critically Ill Patients

Inspired by a family’s firsthand experience with the difficulties of care during a complex, life-threatening illness, the founders and directors of K-Care are driven to create a medical health record sharing platform to help patients direct their care and keep providers informed in real time.

PHOENIX, AZ, October 5, 2018 – K-Care Empowered Health Care, Inc. is proud to announce it is now a nonprofit with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. This designation allows K-Care to apply for government and foundation grants and boosts the confidence of donors while the organization continues to develop its platform to improve the health care experiences and outcomes for patients with life-threatening, critical, or complex illnesses.

“This is an exciting milestone for our growth,” said Bob Hodge II, Founder of K-Care. “We knew after walking with our son, Kyle, during his 4-year battle with a rare sarcoma that patients like him need a comprehensive solution to sharing medical information. These patients don’t have time to waste or energy for redundant testing – Kyle didn’t have any time to waste. We brought a team together and started K-Care to radically change medical record sharing for the most critical and vulnerable patients, and securing 501(c)(3) status enables us to focus on developing the change we know is needed now.”

With the support of its Board of Directors, the medical community, and key donors, K-Care is poised to begin beta testing and initial rollout of the technology that Hodge says “would have made a significant difference in Kyle’s overall care.” The advising minds on the Board of Directors include a powerhouse of knowledge and talent, including: former Attorney General for the State of Arizona and former Mayor of Phoenix, Terry Goddard; former Chairman and Executive Director of multiple agencies under the Office of the Governor for the State of Arizona through several administrations, and Chairman Founder of Landry, Creedon & Associates (a nationally recognized consulting group), Larry Landry; the founder of Omniquity (a leading software company with patented file-transfer technology), Robert Laizure; nationally recognized leader in pediatric medicine with Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Dignity Health, and Wooten Medical Group, Dr. Duane Wooten; and the Chief of Thoracic Surgery and Surgical Director of Lung Transplantation at Norton Thoracic Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, Dr. Michael Smith.
